Four seasons of the hit show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman saw Dean Cain grace the small screen as the superhero Superman and his alter ego Daily Planet journalist Clark Kent, now see what he has to say about the new Superman Henry Cavill; who will be playing the iconic DC Comic’s superhero in the 2013 reboot Man Of Steel from director Zack Snyder:

“I think it’ll be a nice rebirth of the franchise,” Cain told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish. “I think (Cavill will) probably do a fantastic job. I really have no idea though, ask me after I see it and I can tell you a lot more. The role is a big, giant role, there’s so much to it. He’s a classically trained Brit so I understand. I think he’s going to be fine. The challenges for him are going to be miniscule.”

“I want to see this in [The Immortals], see how it goes – I want to see how Henry does,” Cain told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish. “I get a lot of questions about that kid, he’s taking over the Superman mantle – I’ve never seen him in a film, and the film looks great, and I want to check it out and just see it. They wouldn’t have cast him, I don’t think, unless he was somebody with some substance.”

Starring Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), Michael Shannon (General Zod), Antje Traue (Faora), Russell Crowe (Jor-el), Ayelet Zurer (Lara Lor-Van), Christopher Meloni (Colonel Hardy), & Laurence Fishburne (Perry White); Man Of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013

First official image of Henry Cavill in Superman costume!

Posted by The Kryptic on August 4, 2011

Warners Bros have released the first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman from the new Man of Steel movie.

It looks like they have played safe, and not meddled with the classic design too much, though it does look as the thought the formally bright red and blue costume has been toned down a little, although this could be down to the lighting. Anyway, here’s the image (click to enbiggen!).

Superman: Man of Steel (the official title is still unconfirmed) is directed by Zack Snyder from the script by David Goyer and Jonanthan Nolan, and produced by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Diane Lane as Martha Kent

Posted by The Kryptic on July 22, 2011

It appears that Warner Bros have officially moved the release date for Man of Steel, from December 2012 to June 14th 2013.

Is this a bad sign? Personally I don’t think so; Better to give the project time than rush it.

Amy Adams Cast As Lois Lane In Superman: The Man Of Steel

Posted by Johnathan Smith on April 2, 2011

When Henry Cavill was cast as Superman in director Zack Snyder’s reboot, fans let the idea sink in for a while.  Now that we have processed that thought,  we all became eager to know who will play Lois Lane and who the villain of the film will be.  Right now we can bring you at least one of the answers,  as the recently Academy-award nominated Amy Adams has been cast to play Clark Kents love interest/co-worker.

Zack Snyder revealed this while chatting with Hero Complex:

“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” Snyder said. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioni ng but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relebant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

Superman: The Man of Steel is expected in theaters in the winter of 2012.

BURBANK, CA, March 2, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Oscar®-nominated actress Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, the only mother Clark Kent has ever known, in the new Superman movie to be directed by Zack Snyder.

Who Henry Cavill Beat For The Role Of Superman

Posted by Johnathan Smith on February 2, 2011

We now know that British actor Henry Cavill(Tudors) will play Superman in the Zack Snyder helmed reboot.  So who did Cavill beat for the honor of playing the very first superhero?  The Hollywood Reporter have gotten their hands on a list of actors who lost to Cavill during a very well kept secret try out session including some of the names that have showed up in the rumors over the past few months:

Warners and Nolan auditioned actors in Los Angeles, New York, and London in November and December, with someone in the 28- to 32-year-old range as the ideal. In addition to Cavill and Goode, among those who met or were under consideration were White Collar star Matthew Bomer, Social Network’s Winkelvoss twins Armie Hammer, True Blood actor Joe Manganiello (scheduling with the HBO show was a factor) and Colin O’Donaghue, who stars opposite Anthony Hopkins in The Rite. Cavill was invited for a callback in January, where he met Snyder face-to-face for the first time, according to a source.

So it appears that top choices such as Smallville‘s Tom Welling and Superman Returns Brandon Routh have not been given a chance to portray The Man Of Steel Again.  Also rumors that  Matthew Bomer, Armie Hammer, and Joe Manganiello were in the running were indeed true.

Zack Snyder will direct the Superman reboot which will star Henry Cavill is aiming for a December 2012 release date.

Duncan Jones Explains Why He Turned Down Superman

Posted by Johnathan Smith on January 24, 2011

Duncan Jones, the director of  Moon and the upcoming Source Code was one of the directors that appeared on Chris Nolan’s short list of directors who were in the running to helm the reboot for Superman.  Jones pulled out before a director was chosen, in an interview with reelzchannel.com he explains why:

“I was thrilled to be on that short list,” explains Jones. “For me, that was enough. I don’t know if I would be ready for that leap yet. I did have a meeting with Chris and he’s a fantastic guy and seemed to have really enjoyed Moon, so there was some legitimate interest in me. I think, maybe, I’m not quite ready for that scale of project and that scale of expectation from an audience that is already existing and is waiting to see the next generation of Superman film. I don’t know. It’s a hard one. I’m a huge Superman fan and Bizarro Superman fan. And also a big Judge Dredd fan, which was another one that came my way. Those are two very different scales of projects. Superman was so big that I think I was a little intimidated by it and sort of backed out. Judge Dredd I really thought about and it ended up not being right for me because I had such strong feelings and opinions on what I wanted that film to be. Although I really like what they’re going to do with it, it’s not the film that I was going to make. So that one wasn’t going to work out.”

The Superman will be directed by Zack Snyder.
